Waveriders Group Build by HAW
Following the successes of the first 2 group builds, Hobby Art @ Work continue the momentum by organizing the latest Group Build, Waveriders. We wanted to give the lads something different and WR seems to be a great idea. And it's a break from two legged Gunplas I guess.
Well, here are the pictures of our local young modelers!

Project Gwen by Eday
My day was pretty uneventful until everyone started to swarm my Facebook with Eday's GBWC entry. Yup I was dumbfounded when I saw the pictures. He done it again. A 1/144 Rezel converted with Full Weapon capabilities and then make it into a mobile weapon!? That's just insane. I have to admit I can't pull that one off. So you know I began to bug him for details.

Gundam Expo 2012
It's here again! The Gunpla Expo World Tour is going to be in Singapore starting from 30 August 2012 till 9 September 2012. Expect lots of activities and Gundam displays this time and not to mention, all those exclusive. This year's Gunpla Expo will be held at Nex, and not Compass Point. I suggest you go over to Gundam.info for more updates. Or stick around for my updates (if it ever comes, LOL).

Saber Lily (Non scale plastic figure)
Besides Gundam anime, I seldom watch other series. But recently, I started to watch Bleach and got hooked on it almost instantly. Now, I am watching a bit of Fate Stay Night and it's a nice anime as well. The best part about this is, I get to watch the anime and can buy the resin or plastic figures to work on. And in this case, Kotobukiya released a non-scale plastic version of Saber, the lead character. I bought one out of curiosity.

Play Arts Attack!
As most of you may know by now, I am pretty much into Play Arts (PA) figures nowadays. I'm trying to make up for lost time by buying these figures every other month. I used to collect Hot Toys (HT) figures which IMO are the best "action" figures around. I got Enzio from Assassin Creed and Ghost Rider in my collection. However, HT puts a serious strain on my wallet. But my main grouse is the size for these figures. At 1/6 scale, you need to have a display cabinet to display your collection. With all my Gundam stuff and the Gunpla displays I'm planning for, it's just not possible to accommodate all of them.
Which is why I turned to Play Arts. Slightly taller than your average Master Grades, they are much easier to handle and fit into most showcases. They are also half the normal price of any HT figure which translate to "I can buy even more now!". But what brought me over to PA is that most of the figures are based on my favorite console games and anime! One good example is the Metal Gear Solid series. PA are churning out all my favorite characters from that series. I will shoot myself if I don't get my hands on them!

Hobbymate Shop!
Well, it took quite awhile. But Hobbymate finally has its own shop here!
Some info about HM.
HOBBYMATE is not just a Manufacturer but a distributor/ wholesaler as well. In business since 2003, they have been supplying modeling tools, from basic stuffs like cutters to a full range of airbrushes, accessories, spray booth, decals, modification parts etc. The boss, Edmund, helped me a lot when it comes to tools and supplies. And the best thing about him is that he is always on the lookout for new products/ tools and introducing them to us modelers. ''
Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, it's located in the town of Ang Mo Kio. Nearest MRT is about 2km away, Buangkok and Hougang MRT stations. There are bus services in the vicinity of the building but I have yet to check.
I made my way down to the shop this afternoon. The building is huge! With all the long corridors and intersections and rows of shops, it's like a really elaborate labyrinth! LOL... Stacks of merchandise greeted me when I entered (pretty much like my place!). Spacious and bright, they even have balcony area big enough for a workshop! I like it immediately...

Gundam Mid-Year Challenge 2012
Well, it's time again for our Gundam Mid-Year Challenge 2012. The event is now at Takashimaya B2. I went down last night to submit Waylander's entry, Age Trident since he is away due to work commitments. This year's entries are not bad. I saw a few interesting entries, a Gold Frame Amatsu, a nicely crafted Deathscythe, a green Epyon, a detailed Destiny and a few others. I will let the pictures do the talking but before that, I took a few pictures of the venue as well. So enjoy guys..

Going Merry by Satoshi Araki
To be frank, I seldom feature fellow modelers' work here. But one in awhile, one such great work comes along and stop me in my tracks! I just have to blog about it and share with you guys!
I am never a fan one One-Piece anime. And Bandai's recent releases of the its kits hardly interest me. But one day, this appeared on my Facebook and I was literally blown away! You can say I was dumbfounded and scared shit both at the same time . All the hows, the whys? started forming in my head. In a nutshell, if Going Merry is for real, this is as real as it gets! My wife wants one, my son wants one. Heck! I want one too!
The wood textures, the sails, everything in it is superb. But the icing on the cake gotta be the sea waves. I have never seen it so masterfully executed, not in my region at least. Well. Mr Satoshi Araki has allowed me to blog about his work here and I am really glad. A nice and humble guy indeed.
Well, enough of the superlatives, here are the pictures of Mr Satoshi Araki's work titled "Beginning of 2012, it is rough seas?"
Subject: "Going Merry".
For more pictures and information, please visit his blog, Show in diorama scene of master-Araki. Master? we all agree, don't we?
