The-O (Odin) MG - WIPS

I managed to downloaded all the WIP shots. I took them entirely with my Samsung Galaxy S2. This phone has never let me down so far.

Order of the photos are pretty random in order. But they will probably give you an insight of my thought process throughout the whole build. I decided to created a page for all my WIPs for future works and make this a habit. Hopefully I can have a huge library of WIPs in time to come.

Enjoy...

The O

OK. This ain't finished. That's the bottom line. I still have tons of decals to add and I have not even finish the BFG and base. But nevertheless, I will post some pictures of it since Mr Donc has already done up his. THe purpose of this build is to give the O an overhaul. I guess by now you guys have seen enough of those monstrous versions. So I have decided on the onset to do a "slim" version of the O. Of course there are not a single reference I can find out there. I tried several designs but could not find a suitable frame for it.

And it so happened that I was fiddling with a PG Strike that I realized that its frame suits my idea perfectly! Well, by then it's already mid September and I have not enough time to work on something so massive.

Well of course, this build was done in as a FACE-OFF with DC23. He has done a really impressive interpretation of the O complete with a nice diorama. Without further delay, I present to you my unfinished Master The O. Please forgive me for not completing this in time. I will finish a maintenance structure and post more WIPs soon.

A quick update

Been really busy recently with a few projects. Rather than writing a fulls scale WIP, thought that I post some pictures and will follow up with a proper explanation later. Basically, I have been working on the shoulder and main body. Progress is slow at this point of time as I need to re-construct to internal frame to suit the thin profile. Needless to say, another few weeks of sleepless nights....

Till next post!

A Head Start (The-O WIP)

Whenever I start a new project, I always start with the head. This is because by getting the basic shape of the head, I will be able to get a feel of the overall proportion/structure of the unit and also in terms of modifications and design.

For the past few months, I had been doing research on how I want to portray this suit. I am thinking of doing variations but that is easier said than done considering how massive this kit is.

As you can see the pictures below, the MG O head is too rounded and gives a "soft" expression. Basically, it lacks bite. Here are some close-ups of the stock head.

I will re-design the head to give it a more angular shape.

Toymaker vs DC23 (MG The-O)

Six months ago, I readily accepted DC23's challenge for a Build-Off using Bandai's Master Grade PMX-003 The-O. And only when I started this project recently did I realized that this could well be my most challenging build todate.

Simply because I don't have a "feel" for this mecha. I don't like it at all. It looks clumsy and fat. The more I look at it, the more I want to give it an overhaul. For the past few months, I have been doing some research and have came up with several concepts but I am not satisfied with any one of them. To do something revolutionary is very tough and may not be within my means. Nevertheless, I will never know if I don't give it a try.

On the preliminary, I want a slimmer profile but at the same time, retain it massiveness. Yes, it sounds contradicting but I believe this can be done. I am going to alter the body structure and re-designing the armors making them more streamline (and massive at the same time "duh"). And being a supreme mobile suit,  I want to give it a majestic aura. And so, I named it "Odin".

As for weaponry, I will not do the traditional blaster, cannon or "BFG" as some affectionately calls it. Probably some short to mid-range guns or such and maybe a saber or something similar. It got to be unique or at least different for sure.

Anyway, here are some snap shots of The-O OOB (Out-of-Box).
